Anny S. Robinson, a longtime Beacon and Wappingers Falls resident, was Called Home to the Lord on September 22, 2025; at the age of 96.
She was born in Antwerp, Belgium April 24, 1929, daughter of the late Louise (nee Berthier) Bemindt and Andre Schoeters; step-daughter to the late Andre Bemindt.
Before immigrating to the United States in 1951, she worked in banking beginning in 1948.
On March 3, 1953, in Hempstead, NY, she married William James Robinson Jr., who predeceased her on February 27, 1983, after 29-years of marriage. They lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL where they started their family, and then in the early 1960s, moved back to New York to Wappingers Falls; where she lived and loved until his sudden passing.
Upon settling in Dutchess County, she worked at the Matteawan/Fishkill National Bank and later M&T Bank in Beacon until she retired. She also worked as a supervisor at the McCleland Home for Adults in Wappingers Falls until retiring from there as well.
Anny was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon for many years, serving as a church deacon and elder. She was also active with the Presbyterian Women’s Club, and attended the senior citizen club when she was able. She loved her time at the church. She remembered teaching Sunday School, and doing Bible skits which she would compose with the former pastor and friend, Rev. Ben Larson-Wolbrink and dear friend Nancy Johnston.
Anny thoroughly enjoyed history, considering that she lived through tremendous parts of it; from World War II in Belgium, and immigrating to a new world as a young woman. Anny enjoyed watching the birds, and admiring her beautiful flowers; she enjoyed the loving companship of her cats Leonard, Phantom and Magnum.
Anny was very proud to have been chosen to be in the WWII West Point Hall of History, especially proud of the moment when her son, Steven, brought her to West Point.
Along with her husband, Bill, she was sadly predeceased by her two sons, William James “Jamie” Robinson III on January 24, 1998, and Steven Roger Robinson on October 5, 2022.
Anny is survived by her beloved and loving daughter, Leslie L. Robinson, a host of her church family, friends and kind neighbors. A particular special thanks to Rose Quirk and Nancy Johnston for their outstanding love and supportive hand in aiding Anny and her daughter, Leslie.
Her Church Family and Friends will gather to honor her life on Monday, October 6, 2025 1:00PM at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, New York; where a Graveside Service will be offered.
