Catherine (Cathy) Isler
December 25, 1940-February 13, 2022
Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, friend.
Cold Spring resident since 1976.
A Christmas baby, Catherine was born to Thomas and Dorothy Barca in Yonkers, New York on December 25, 1940. Catherine was the eldest child, and enjoyed life with her younger siblings, Alyce, Dotty, Tommy and Bill. She met the love of her life, Frederick Isler, when she was only 13. They married in 1961, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on the shores of the Hudson River, a river so much a part of Catherine‘s life.
Catherine was a member of the Westchester County Marine Corp. Woman’s Auxiliary and for a time served as President. She worked for Geigy, Butterfield Hospital, McNally and Kelly Insurance, among many other jobs that allowed her to greet her grateful children when they returned home from school. Her favorite job, she always said, was being a Mother.
Catherine also leaves behind her loving husband, Fred and two of her three children, Jeanne Isler Maletz ( son in law Oliver, grandson Cooper) and Frederick Isler Jr. ( grandson‘s Frederick III, Derick and Brett). She joins her eldest daughter, Lorraine in heaven.
Catherine also leaves behind so many family members and friends that lifted her spirits during her difficult cancer battle. We thank you all so very much for your unending love, care, and support.
Catherine requested a simple, private burial with her family. She knew all too well how difficult a funeral can be, and wants to be remembered for her smiles, laughter, and love for all who knew her.
In Lieu of flowers , donations can be made in Catherine’s memory to Our Lady of Loretto Church, The Sisters of the Atonement of Graymoor or The Franciscan Brothers of Graymoor.
