Cornelius James Tuomey II passed away on Friday January 22, 2021 from brain cancer. He was 91 years old.
A life long resident and fixture in the Cold Spring Community “Connie” is pre-deceased by his wife Vera Harman (d. 2007) and brothers, Christopher Brooks, James, Stephen, and Peter. He is survived by his sister-in-laws, Jan and Eleanor, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and their families.
The oldest of Cornelius and Kathleen’s (Brooks) 5 boys, Cornelius went to Regis High School in Manhattan (Class of 1947) and graduated from Fordham University in 1954. He was proud to serve as a United States Marine 1954-1957 achieving the rank of 2ndLieutenant, with an extended tour at the Suez Canal and followed in the U.S. Marine Reserves. He worked for many years as a Communications Systems Specialist, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed traveling with Vera and the “good life” of Cold Spring with family and friends.
Connie was a self-taught musician with a great sense of humor. Although afflicted with aphasia in recent years due to cancer treatments that made finding words difficult, he continued to engage everyone around a piano with a tune and a laugh.
Donations may be made to the Philipstown Food Pantry.
Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, Funeral Services will be held at a date to be announced.
