Douglas Merritt Jr.

January 23, 1939 — July 22, 2018

Douglas A. Merritt Jr. a 60 year resident of Fishkill passed away on July 22, 2018 at home.  He was79.

Born on January 23, 1939 in Cold Spring to the late Douglas A. Merritt Sr and Helen Smith.

Doug  graduated Haldane High School in 1957 with many academic and athletic honors.   After graduation he was given an athletic scholarship to attend Syracuse University.  He was a retired Manager for IBM in East Fishkill for over 40 years prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing , softball and baseball.  Doug will be remembered by his devoted family and friends.  He had many fond memories and tales of hunting, fishing ,and surveying with his father Douglas Merritt Sr.

He is survived by his children Tracy Taft of Poughkeepsie, Kim Verzi of Beacon whom loved him as much as he loved them; Life Long Companion of 50+ years  Jane Tracy Frisenda, and her daughter, whom he loved as his own Diana Reynolds; Grandchildren Lindsey Taft, Robert Taft Jr, Ian Taft, James Verzi and Joseph Verzi; His Son in Law Robert Taft of LaGrange, along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents, numerous aunts and uncles and his  sister Patricia Merritt Seabolt.

Friends may call on Friday July 27, 2018 from 5-7pm at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring.  Interment will be private.
