Elaine Mary Way December 11, 1948 – November 29, 2022

Elaine Mary Way, 73, of Nederland, TX died Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Cascades Skilled Nursing Facility Port Arthur, TX.  She was born on December 11, 1948, in Cold Spring, New York to Elaine Mary Sylvester Percacciolo and Angelo W. Percacciolo.

Elaine graduated from Lady Cliff Academy in Lake Mohegan, New York in 1966 and attended Pace College in Westchester, New York.  She and her husband resided in Beacon, New York for many years before moving to Texas.  Elaine worked for H & R Block for several years, and thoroughly enjoyed working with her clients. Her quick wit, sense of humor and extensive knowledge of income tax put people at ease.

Hardworking and tender hearted, headstrong and intelligent—Elaine was smart, honest and determined to do whatever she set her mind on—and incredibly strong willed.  At the same time, she was always a listening ear and willing to hear both sides of any situation, and was not afraid to tell you if she disagreed and did so with compassion.   She was strong, tough, and at her core, sensitive to the needs of others and always willing to help.  She loved her children and her husband fiercely; she believed in loyalty and if you needed her, she was there.

Elaine loved her family, and traveled to New York most summers to see her parents and siblings.  Although miles apart, she taught her children to stay close to their aunts, uncles, cousin and grandparents.  She supported her children in all their school activities growing up and supported many of their classmates and friends as well.  Elaine and Richard opened their home to everyone, always having a meal to share, and always had room for one more at the table.  If she said she was making meatballs and sauce, she usually had a big crowd that she was happy to feed.

She loved her grandchildren dearly and could be found most summers in her pool with them, most of the time with them on her shoulders.  When the weather wasn’t great for swimming, she would bake with her grandkids—usually chocolate chip cookies.  She was an excellent baker and made detailed homemade cakes for her children for each birthday and loved making Christmas cookies each year with her children and sister-in-law, Midge.

Survivors include her children, Richard V. Way, Jr. of Beaumont,  John R. Way II and wife, Darlene of Mont Belvieu, TX, Angela Fanette and husband Darin, of Nederland, TX, grandchildren,  Lauren Fanette , Anthony Fanette , Andrew Fanette, Joseph Way and his wife, Keely, Jacob Way, Natalie Way,  John Robert Way III, siblings, William Percacciolo and wife Joyce, Annette Percacciolo Flaherty and husband, Robert, and Anthony Percacciolo and wife Joanne, devoted friend who is like family, Rick Lee, as well as numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elaine Mary Sylvester Percacciolo and Angelo W. Percacciolo; husband, Richard V. Way, Sr.; and son, Joseph Angelo Way.

Elaine’s family would like to thank the staff of Cascades at Port Arthur for their attentive care, kindness and compassion in her final days and the kindness given to her during the time she spent in your care.  The comfort you provided to her means more than you know.

At the family’s request a private service will be held on December 9th  Broussards Mortuary, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, TX.

Local Arrangements are under the direction of Clinton Funeral Home- Cold Spring.
