Elizabeth Todd Healy Obituary

Elizabeth Todd Healy (Libby), a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, NY, passed away at her home on August 15, 2026. She transitioned from this life to the next peacefully in her sleep - the fifth generation of her family to do so in their ancestral home.

Born July 31,1923, to Gordon B. Todd and Elizabeth H. Todd, her winter residence was at South Oxford Street in Brooklyn, New York until 1947, when the family made their summer home in Cold Spring a full-time residence.

Libby was a graduate of the Packer Institute, attended Sarah Lawrence College, and completed her bachelor’s degree at Columbia University in New York. She remained interested in education and enjoyed learning about new things her entire life. Libby had an amazingly open mind and would entertain new ideas from any source.

A student and lover of the arts. She took her children to many art museums in New York and Europe. Libby also loved music and theater and was very involved locally with the Chorale and the Depot Theater in Garrison. Horseback riding was another great interest. After she was no longer riding, she enjoyed watching the horses that are boarded in the pasture below her house.

Libby’s involvement in the local community is legendary. She was involved with too many

organizations to name them here, but her passion for gardening was paramount, and she

served as President of the local garden club for many years. Her support was not always

monetary, as she would offer her home for events and was often engaged as one of the “worker bees” until age took over, and she stopped setting up tables and chairs and finally agreed to let others handle the task. She was dedicated to her family and her community, and her service to both was a driving force in her life. She is an inspiration to family, friends, and acquaintances. Her graciousness is a wonderful example of kindness to her fellow humans.

Libby is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her three children, Chalmers Dale II (married 1944 - 1969), and her second husband, Raymond Healy (married 1970-1987), and her great-grandchildren, Elliette Nicole Lincoln (2001-2003) and Aidan Madaket Lincoln (2003-2023). She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Lincoln and her husband, Daniel Lincoln of Evergreen, CO; Kathryn Diggle and her husband, William Diggle, of Hampton Falls NH; Gordon Dale and his wife, Connie Dale of Washington, DC; her six grandchildren, Elizabeth Lincoln and her husband, Doug Tackett; Curtis Lincoln and his wife, Kristopher Lincoln; Laura Gouveia and her husband Tom Gouveia; Linda Stewart and her wife, Patti; Nicholas Dale and his wife, Jesse Dale; and Erika Dale; and her surviving great-grandchildren, Sean Stieren and his wife Lauren; Lorna Lincoln and her husband Conner; Daniel Tackett; Greysen Lincoln; Mark Noeker; Brian Noeker and his wife Arriana; and Beringer Dale.

Memorial Service will be August 29 at St Philip’s Episcopal Church in Garrison, NY at 11:30 am.
