Francis A. Russo, a longtime resident of Fishkill, New York, passed away at his home on August 12, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1942, in Newport News, Virginia, where his father was stationed in the Navy.

Frank was the beloved son of the late Frank and Lena Russo of Cold Spring, New York. He grew up in Cold Spring and graduated from Haldane High School in 1961.

Frank was an avid Yankees fan, and his passion for the game often came out in loud bursts of cheering, yelling, and screaming at the television or from the stands. In his younger years, his talent on the baseball field earned him a scouting opportunity with the St. Louis Cardinals AAA team for his pitching abilities. Baseball remained a lifelong passion. He watched MLB games daily, but nothing compared to watching his grandson Connor play. Frank never missed one of Connor’s baseball games and was, without a doubt, his biggest fan.

Frank was not much of a traveler, but he cherished the family vacations to Cape Cod. While he may not have loved the beach for the usual reasons, there was one place you could almost always find him: the snack shack, where he was busy discovering the daily ice cream flavor or waiting patiently for a fresh, hot dog.

Frank spent more than 20 years working as a carpenter and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union. One of his favorite sayings was, “By the work, one knows the workman.” In retirement, many people came to know him through his position as a door greeter at Sam’s Club in Fishkill. He loved seeing familiar faces, making new friends, and, most of all, catching up on all the latest stories and gossip.

Above all else, Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured family gatherings—the laughter, the stories, and simply being surrounded by the people he loved. He especially enjoyed listening to everyone share their lives, laughing along with them, and living vicariously through the younger generations.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Linda (Curry) Russo; his brother, Joseph Russo and his wife, Debbie; his loving children, Christine (Russo) Martin and Frankie Russo; his son-in-law, Lee; and his four adoring grandchildren, Connor, Chandler, Sarah, Noah, and his wife, Daniza. He also leaves behind his beloved great-granddaughter, Kendall.

Frank’s presence was larger than life, and his laughter was impossible to forget. His belly laughs will live on forever, his voice will be heard in every story, and his love will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

This is not goodbye; it’s just a “see you later.” And one day, we’ll all have the chance to greet him again with our favorite words: “Hey, Frankie!”

Friends may call on Sunday August 16,2026 from 1-5pm at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street Cold Spring.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 17,2026 at 11am at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair street, Cold Spring.  Interment and burial will be private .
