Henry Redman Turner III, 93, Of Garrison NY, died on August 26, 2026, Henry, son of Henry R Turner Jr and Mildred Wood Turner, was born April 23, 1933, in Campbellsville KY, where he grew up and went to high school. He was graduated from Emory University in 1954 and Yale Law School in 1957. He served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Artillery in 1958.

His New York City business career was: Corporate Trust Officer of Citibank; Director of Financial Analysis of McCall Corp.; Business Manager of McCall's Magazine; Budget Director of Harper & Row; Vice-President & Circulation Director of McCall's; and Circulation Committee Chair of the Magazine Publishers Association from 1974-77. From 1977-95 he was Founder and President of three direct mail magazine subscription agencies: American Family Publishers, Magazine Marketplace and Magazine Express. He retired from business in 1995.

After visiting a wildlife refuge in Sanibel FL in 1980, Henry became an avid birder, eventually seeing 786 bird species in North America, 236 of the world's 367 seabird species, and over 3,600 of the 10,800+ bird species in the world. He traveled widely, visiting all 50 US states, all 10 Canada provinces, and 68 countries and territories.

He was on the Board and Publishing Chair of the American Birding Association 1996-2000; on the Board and Treasurer of the American Bird Conservancy 1998-2001; and on the Board of the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society for many years.

He was a member of the Regency Whist Club, a bridge club in New York, and served as its President, Treasurer, and Board member for many years. He was a member of the New York Bar. His active adult sports were squash, sailing, tennis and golf.

Henry researched and wrote a 70-page genealogy book, tracing his American ancestors back to the original settlers of Jamestown VA, in 1609, and New Haven CT, in 1637. His ancestor John Alling was the first Treasurer of Yale College from 1702-17. His ancestor Thomas Buckingham's son, Thomas ]r., was an original Trustee of Yale in 1701. Henry's ancestor Thomas Hooker, founder of the Connecticut Colony, wrote the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut (1639) which later became the framework for the U.S. Constitution; he was sometimes called "The Father of American Democracy".

Henry is survived by Joan, wife of fifty-three years, children Erin Mansfield and Brian Turner, stepsons Thomas and John Sotiridy, and four grandchildren.

Joan will scatter Henry's ashes as he wished. He also asked that there be no funeral, flowers, memorial service, or request for memorial donations.
