Ransom E. Taggart Jr. passed away peacefully at home on April 1st, after a long battle with Cardio Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Ransom “Randy” was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1939 and was the son of the late Edna May Taggart and Ransom E. Taggart Sr. Randy grew up in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He graduated from DeVry University and settled in New York State pursuing a life-long career in electrical construction that took him from Apprentice Electrician to General Manager of Delta Electric, Inc. in White Plains and Yonkers, NY. He resided in Cold Spring, New York for 52 years including his retirement. He served on the Putnam County (NY) Electrical Licensing Board for 30 years and served as member and Chairman of the Village of Cold Spring Planning Board for over 20 years. He followed his father’s Masonic path, becoming a Master Mason and member of Collabergh-Radium Lodge for over 60 years.
Randy enjoyed family, golf and travel, particularly several trips to Ireland, Scotland and Prince Edward Island in Canada as well as vacationing in Florida during the winter season. He spent extended time in summer along the Maine Coast in the greater Bar Harbor area and north to property in Cutler, Maine and also travelled throughout the US. Frequently his days in New York were spent with family and friends improving his golf game at Mount Kisco Country Club where he and his family were members many years. Randy will be remembered for his supportive leadership in the electrical industry and service to others as well as his sincere caring spirit for those who crossed his path.
He will be missed greatly by his survivors include his wife, Barbara, and five children, Alena (Will), Barbara, Deborah (Michael), Kristina (Anthony) and Ransom III. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, David, and his sister, Edna May, along with his special niece, Bethany (Keith). Seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. His friends, neighbors and coworkers were many.
In accordance with Randy’s wishes, internment will take place on Saturday, April 18th, 11:00 am, graveside, at the Cold Spring Cemetery. All wishing to join are welcome.
