Robert Emerick was born on April 14, 1934 in Ardsley, NY. On January 31, 2022, he passed away with his family by his side in Cold Spring, NY. He was 87 years old.
If you asked anyone who “Mr. E” was, you would get many replies - little league coach, building inspector, craftsman, Yankees & Giants fan. But to Robert’s family and loved ones, his biggest role was being a family man - a loving husband to his late wife Ann, a father, a wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather.
Robert was a beloved member of the communities of Ossining and Cold Spring. He was deeply involved in each throughout his life both professionally as a civil servant and as a volunteer through various organizations including youth sports.
After graduating from Ardsley High School, Robert joined the Air Force stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base in South Carolina where he met his wife of 52 years, Ann.
Post-service, Robert began his career in the Greenburg, NY building department before moving to Ossining, NY. He started as Ossining’s building inspector before eventually retiring as the Director of Operations with over 25 years of service. Not one to sit around, “retirement” for Bob meant joining the Philipstown building department and serving for another 20 years.
Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and loved ones. He loved spending time in his workshop and sharing his creations with all. His birdhouses, corkboards, and various other woodworking projects are spread across the country in the homes of family, friends, and acquaintances alike. Robert’s favorite thing was having a full house for the holidays with his loved ones around.
Robert is survived by his three sons, Randy, Mark, and Kurt, as well as his eight loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Robert will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring, NY on Thursday February 3, 2022, beginning at 2 p.m until 5pm . Donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are welcome.
