It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy McDermott, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who left this world on November 19, 2025. Surrounded by family, he left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and a sense of humor that will be cherished forever. His life was defined by hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Tommy is predeceased by his beloved parents, Mary (Kathleen) McDermott and father James (Charlie) McDermott. Tommy leaves behind his loving wife Cathy, and their two daughters Caelan (14) and Ciara (10). He will be missed by his siblings: Maureen (Jerry), James (Susan), John (Michele), and Kathleen. He was also adored by his nieces and nephews, Leanne, John, Laura, Courtney, James, Christopher, John, Robert, and Sean.
Tommy was born and raised in Bronx, NY where he was a carpenter for the Local 608, now the 157. To those that worked beside him, it was clear that he gave more of himself than most. It was often joked that he did the work of many.
Tommy’s family was the center of his world. His wife, Cathy, was the love of his life and his best friend. They met in the Bronx and later moved to Cold Spring, NY, where they raised their 2 daughters, who Tommy loved endlessly. He never missed a practice, game, race, competition, or concert. He even took up running so that he could spend more time with them. When the girls were young, it was often joked that he was “everyone’s parent” on the playground, as he always took enough snacks to feed all of the children. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the ability to make anyone laugh.
Tommy will forever be missed by all who loved him.
