Obituary

Vincent Francis Burke, born on January 15, 1942, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, passed away peacefully at his home in Cold Spring, New York on May 3, 2026 after a long illness. He was the beloved son of the late Thomas Vincent Burke and Anna Laskowski Burke.

Vincent was a longtime resident of Cold Spring, New York, and more recently Stuart, Florida. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, where he rose to the position of general foreman of the Croton-Harmon Shop before retiring.

Vincent previously served as a volunteer firefighter with the North Highlands Engine Company and was also a member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club. Raised in New Rochelle, New York, he maintained a lifelong connection to the water, continuing to dock his boat there throughout the years because of his enduring love for Long Island Sound.

Vincent had a deep passion for boating and fishing and found great joy and tranquility on the water. He especially treasured the time he spent with family and friends out on the Sound.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Judith; his daughter, Jean Burke Foley, and son-in-law, Thomas F.X. Foley, of Old Hickory, Tennessee; his son, Steven Burke, and daughter-in-law, Jessica Fraley Burke, of Newburgh, New York; his four cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Riley Burke, and Ava and Mya Foley. He is also survived by his siblings, Judith Horzepa, Thomas Burke(Mary), Mark Burke, Catherine Morrison (Daniel), and Anthony Burke (Lorraine); his sister-in-law, Sally Anderson (David); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on May 16, 2026 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Clinton Funeral Home in Cold Spring, New York, immediately followed by a short prayer service at the same location.

Vincent will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
