Francis “Sonny” Moran of Cold Spring passed away on February 2, 2021 at home. He was 82.
Born on August 20, 1938 in Beacon, NY. He attended Beacon High School and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country from 1955-1959. After his honorable discharge, he met Delores Zeliph and on September 28, 1963 at Our Lady of Loretto they married.
He was a 42 year member of the Cold Spring Fire Department. He coached baseball and football for many years. He retired from the United States Postal Services where he worked for over 30 years. Post retirement, he worked 10 years at Hudson Valley Amusement and another 15 years at AutoPlus.
Survivors include his devoted wife Delores Moran, loving children: Michael and his wife Janice Moran, Robert Moran, Kim Corless and her fiancé Scott Myers, Melissa Bradley and her husband John, and Craig and his wife Katie Moran. Cherished grandchildren Kevin, Lindsey, Alyssa, Brittany, Delaney, Danny, Matthew, Hunter, Morgan, Patrick, Trevor, Dennis, Brian, Johnathan, Annabelle, William, Logan, Grace, MaryRose, and Juliet. His loving great grandchildren Cooper and Ryla. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Trimble, Barbara Chain, and Linda Russell.
He was predeceased by his father, Francis J. Moran, his mother Marie and his step-father Harold Niver, his sisters: Kate Doxsey , Dolores Doxsey, Loretta Travis, and Patricia Righetti, and his brother, Harold “Butch” Niver.
Friends may call on Friday February 5, 2021 from 4-7pm at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring. Internment with Navy honors will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery.
